⭕ Callow Youth ⭕
Callow Youth are genuinely laying down a strong claim to write their own chapter in the UK’s proud musical heritage. A host of acclaimed live shows across the country have helped to cement their right to be considered genuine contenders, a claim their loyal fanbase wholeheartedly testify to and display when watching the band live. Starting out in late 2017 after leaving school, their single releases to date perfectly highlight a growth in maturity, both in terms of song writing and mastering their craft as musicians, that belies their tender age. Their EP ‘Straight to the End’ displays a wide gambit of musical diversification, from ballad to barnstormer. Their new, harder edged direction, on display in their ‘Live At The Edge’ set is yet again a marked progression of their burgeoning song writing abilities intertwined with gloriously rye social comment strewn lyrics. Full of heavy blues guitar riffs and driving bass and percussion, Callow Youth are well and truly producing the goods. A recent self-funded live stream event ‘Live At The Edge’ in aid of backstage crew affected by the recent pandemic perfectly showcased their musical journey so far and set up mouth-watering anticipation of what this band is capable of.
⭕ The Hackney Attic ⭕
Fresh from releasing their first single ‘Calm Down’ in April, Notts-based lo-fi indie trio The Hackney Attic bring smooth silky smooth melodies for one of their first shows in July. A recent NUSIC session gives a glimpse into the band with a few new tunes previewed too. Clever lyricism and head-bopping beats, we can’t wait to see them in action.
⭕ Sages of the Subway ⭕
Forming back in 2017, inspired by the likes of The Killers, U2, Embrace & The Horrors, Sages of the Subway are Cambridge via Notts alt-pop-rock quartet. The band have brought their infectious hooks to the Camden Assembly, Notting Hill Arts Club, a headline slot at Cambridge Junction, and a pre-game performance at Peterborough United’s stadium. Over the past year, the band have remained productive, releasing All That I Know & Lights Go Down as well preparing a string of releases for 2021. This will be their debut Notts show.
