Hailing from Portsmouth, electrifying indie-rockers Crystal Tides hit the stage on the 3rd October following the release of their latest belter ‘Give It All’, so we got to know ’em!
Hey Crystal Tides! How are you feeling ahead of hitting the road?
Can’t wait to get back on the road. It’s where we feel most at home! Nothing beats living out of a van and a constant flow of McDonalds.
The reaction has been crazy. We as a band were so excited to release this one and it seems our excitement has transferred to the fans. We were lucky enough to tour it with The Lottery Winners and it’s quickly become a live favourite!
There’s such a great use of synths in that tune as well as many of your other tracks, what inspired you make that addition into the band?
It’s always fun to add instruments and sounds and experiment during the recording process. It’s something that we enjoy as a band enhancing the songs by adding in new exciting elements.
What was the music scene like for you guys growing up in Portsmouth and are there any notable venues where you cut your teeth?
Portsmouth had a busy scene back in the day. We all grew up playing in different bands around the city. I’d say the most memorable venue growing up was a small one called Eastney Cellars. Always had top touring bands come through and was just a great little venue!
Talking of new material can we expect to hear any unreleased tracks at the show?
Absolutely. Our whole new EP ‘The Middle’ will be in the touring set!
Lastly if you could get any musician dead or alive to join the band who would it be?
Crystal Tides are perfect as we are… we don’t think we need anymore members. (Barrioke would be a laugh though)
Crystal Tides play The Bodega on the 3rd October. Tickets on sale now.
