From Leeds, UK, Apollo Junction are a 5 piece band that have been described as a modern day New Britpop band. Apollo Junction, whose members were born in the 80’s, inspired by the 90’s, moulded by the 00’s and with x2 albums under their belt and a third on the way; here they are.
Taking the phrase ‘independent music’ to a whole new level they released their second studio album ‘All In’ out of a shed in Leeds , which went on to chart at number 3 in the official iTunes album charts.
Apollo Junction’s recent single ‘By The River’ debuted at number 8 on iTunes. It then spent 2 days fighting it out amongst the majors without leaving the top ten once. Even on the night of the Brit Awards it couldn’t be moved from the top ten. The response and feedback on social media has seen the most positive response from fans. Radio X made it their ‘Hot One’ and BBC Introducing have supported it with numerous plays.
Described recently by Steve Lamacq on BBC6 music as swaggering electro indie rock, the band appeal to audiences who still have a profound love of guitar music of the 80s and 90s.
Regionally, The Yorkshire Post newspaper released an article last week and put the band in the Top Ten of best band’s to ever come out of Leeds; alongside The Kaiser Chiefs, Yard Act and The Wedding Present.
The band have achieved all of this and more, without the backing of a major label or investment.
