GEORGE EZRA
George Ezra is already the talk of the town, and his Columbia Records debut EP was only released last month.
The EP, which peaked at no.6 on the iTunes chart is led by its brooding, eponymous title track, see video below.
A second track from the EP, Budapest, is available for free download at georgeezra.com.
The 19 year old singer and songwriter first came to attention when BBC Introducing in his adopted home of Bristol picked up on a handful of tracks posted online. That led to a live session at the legendary Maida Vale studios and an oversubscribed performance on their stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. In September, what was meant to be an under the radar free download quickly went overground when Zane Lowe picked up Budapest after discovering it online, going on to name it his Next Hype; plaudits from the likes of Clash, VICE/Noisey and more quickly followed. Radio support continues to be strong as further Radio 1 support has come from Huw Stephens, Fearne Cotton, and Jen Long and Ally McCrae.
For the past 18 months, Ezra has been traveling the country for solo support slots with Willy Mason, Ben Kweller and Lianne La Havas. His first show of 2014, at the Lexington, London on 22 January, sold out in less than 24 hours when put on sale. He now announces a full European tour for early 2014; see overleaf for the full lists of shows.
