You’ll know Tom Wardle when you see him: tall, slim and dressed like he’s ready for a GQ cover shoot with something of a young Rod Stewart about him.

You’ll definitely know Tom Wardle when you hear him: his almost-crooning voice delivering slick and crafted classic pop songs bursting with optimism which have drawn comparisons to Paul Weller and Glenn Tilbrook, leading to one critic labelling Tom… as “the new Squeeze”.

Honing his craft of live music entertainment throughout the past five years, 900 shows and one vocal-chord operation, Tom has moulded himself into what the industry would call “the real deal.”

June 2012 saw the long awaited release of Tom’s second EP “Sweet Insanity”, showcasing his natural gift for glorious sun-drenched melodies and composition inspired by his idols the Beatles and the Beach Boys. From his ode to fallen angel Brian Wilson on the title track to the veiled charm of the gorgeous “Pink Lilies” and the optimism of “California (Here I Come)” this is his most realised work yet, with guitar work on the latter coming from acclaimed Spiritualized guitarist Tony “Doggen” Foster.

Tom’s musical apprenticeship started out aged 16 touring the country with his first band, supporting rock legends Slade and The Sweet along the way, and learning vital lessons on writing, performance and most importantly says Tom, professionalism.

Since disbanding them aged 19, he has worked closely with acclaimed songwriter Tim Kellet (Simply Red, Olive) and producer Steve Bush (Stereophonics) on songs for Tom’s own catalogue, supported his teenage idol Mark Morris of The Bluetones, as well as playing session guitar, most notably on the demos for James Morrisson’s “Songs For You, Truths For Me” album.

The 200 gigs per year Tom has averaged since 2007 have earned him a living and a significant fan base, holding residencies in Nottingham, Derby and London, which include the famous Kensington Roof Gardens, where he regularly opens and closes the live music season there. Other recent clients include Vogue Magazine, Selfridges, Mahiki and The Royal Air Force, where Tom is regularly asked to perform at ceremonies and balls.

In June 2012 Tom was announced runner-up in the Future Sound of Nottingham, the UK’s biggest local music competition, missing out on being named winner by a margin that was almost too close to call: winning over an audience of 600 at Nottingham’s prestigious Rock City, in an competition that saw 55 entrants compete.

Tom is currently promoting his “Sweet Insanity” EP and touring around the country showing people why he is indeed, “the real deal”.
