ATTICUS ANTHEM
The Midlands based band formed in early 09 by Singer/songwriter Bjorn Franklin, Guitarist Johnny Marchetta and Drummer Jared Mcgivern.
After a year spent in the rehearsal room, it wasn’t long before Atticus were playing popular venues in Nottingham and not long after that they went on to London to play venues such as Barfly, The Purple Turtle and even Music weeks record of the day gig Proud Galleries. The band released their 1st single Southside in 2011 along with EP Slowdown Grace Town, which was heavily played and supported on BBC’S The Beat by Dean Jackson. After a short break the recruitment of Olly Skelton on Bass was in order, a massive asset to say the least. Not long after the band had a call asking them to support Scouting for Girls on their UK tour, they jumped at the chance and were able to play such venues as, Shepherds Bush Empire, Glasgow ABC, and Birmingham HMV just to name a few.
Only 2 weeks after the tour had ended the band had the opportunity to support American based band Needtobreathe an opportunity which the band couldn’t turn down. This time around KOKO and Birmingham Academy were the venues of choice, after 2 great tours and some awesome moments the band headed back into the studio to start putting in the work for EP number 2, ‘Lovers Stay Home’. Again supported by the BBC introducing in Nottingham.
The band are now working on their third EP and are due to release their new single ‘Whistle Blows’ very soon along with their music video directed by Paul Bates. • from the band’s Facebook
